How it is calculated
A recurring deposit (RD) puts a fixed amount into the bank every month for a fixed time at a fixed rate. Like FDs, most bank RDs add interest every quarter.
How it is worked out: each monthly deposit earns quarterly-compounded interest for the time it stays in the account, and the maturity amount is the total of all deposits with their interest.
Example: ₹5,000 a month for 5 years at 6.5% gives about ₹3.54 lakh on ₹3 lakh deposited. Banks may round differently; tax is not included.

For learning only. The rate is an assumption you choose, not a promise or prediction. Real returns change, investments can lose money, and tax, charges and inflation are not included. This is not investment advice.
