How it is calculated
PPF is a government savings scheme with a 15-year lock-in that can be extended in blocks of 5 years. You can put in ₹500 to ₹1,50,000 a year. Interest is compounded once a year.
How it is worked out: the yearly amount is added at the start of each year and the whole balance earns the yearly rate. The government reviews the PPF rate every quarter, so check the current rate; 7.1% is only the starting value here.
Example: ₹1,00,000 a year for 15 years at 7.1% grows to about ₹29 lakh on ₹15 lakh invested.

For learning only. The rate is an assumption you choose, not a promise or prediction. Real returns change, investments can lose money, and tax, charges and inflation are not included. This is not investment advice.
